Addiction is a Disease. Stigma is THE Killer.
Did you know, in this country, there are more people suffering from addiction than those dealing with all types of cancer? In fact, more than 20 million Americans are in need of treatment. But only 1 in 10 get help. Why? It’s simple. Addiction has been handled as a shame-based condition resulting in mass discrimination. The way we respond to this crisis in America is causing immeasurable destruction, paralyzing people from getting the help they desperately need
But there is Hope!
In the Bay Area alone, more than 500,000 people who once battled addiction, are now living healthy, productive lives in recovery. Why aren’t we shouting their successes from the rooftops? Why are they invisible when their stories can help and inspire so many? Stigma.
Consider for a moment if we championed treatment and recovery from all disease equally. We would save lives and radically impact change!
Let's do it together!
Join us at the 'Road to Recovery SF' on April 30, 2017 at Crissy Field. This half-day of recovery focused wellness includes a family-friendly 5K walk/run, art, inspirational speakers, yoga, dance, music, healthy foods and so much more! Last year’s event was sold out. Register, volunteer, donate. Be a part of open recovery movement.
End Shame. Open Recovery
Am I required to fundraise for this event?
No, however, if you are able to do so, we would be tremendously grateful for your support. Upon registering, you'll have the option to choose whether you'll fundraise or not. If you chose to do so, you'll be promoted to create your own fully customizable fundraising page. We have also built a comprehensive Fundraising Toolkit to make it easy for you. Due to stigma, recovery from addiction is not sufficiently supported. Raising funds will help continue and expand programming at the Center for Open Recovery as well as educate and raise awareness. Any and all outreach you do is valuable!
How much does it cost to register?
Registration for the 5K and Festival is $40 for adults 13 & over and $20 for children 12 & under. We also offer 'Festival Only' passes, which exclude the 5K, for $20 for adults 13 & over and $10 for children 12 & under. Onsite registration will be available on Saturday, April 29th from 10AM-3PM at Presido Sports Basement located at 610 Old Mason St. San Francisco, CA 94129, as well on on event day in the Bib & Packet Pickup Tent (located at Crissy Field across from Sports Basement) from 7AM-9AM. Please note registration increases by $5 across the board after Friday, April 28, 2017 at 12:00AM PST.
Where can I pick up my bib and shirt?
Packet pickup will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00AM-3:00PM at the Presidio Sports Basement located at 610 Old Mason St. San Francisco, CA 94129. Please note event shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis so early packet pickup is highly encouraged.
Will there be parking available onsite?
We strongly recommend carpooling, public transportation or other options that do not require parking as it will be extremely limited. There will be some parking available at Presidio Sports Basement directly across from the festival venue as well as at the Marina south of Sports Basement.
Can I walk the course?
Yes! The Road to Recovery SF welcomes runners and walkers who have registered to do so.
Is the 5K timed?
No, this event is not timed. It is a festive run/walk.

Yes, they are! Registration is available for children of all ages to participate in the festival. Children under 2 are free. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18.
Are dogs allowed at the event?
We’re sorry but for safety reasons, dogs, even on leash, are not allowed to attend in the event.
Are bikes or strollers allowed on the course?
